3D TVs, and possibly gaming going to take off MUCH faster than HD TV imo

3D TVs are neat, but the needed glasses do present a very unwanted barrier. Even if you own several pairs it just takes away the convenience factor that the masses may not buy into. It just depends on whether or not 3D catches on before the next big thing (3D without glasses) arrives.
