Telling the public a lie is worse PR than a bad business decision. As I already stated earlier this will not stop anyone working on a hack anyway and any PS3 will be downgradable back to a earlier version so if piracy becomes possible anyone with a fat model will be able to get back other OS functionality.
This decision makes ZERO sense to me and many others.
