On one hand, the jump to 3D is definitely bigger than the jump to HD which is a point in favor.
On the other hand:
- many people have switched TVs in the last few years as HDTVs got cheaper. People don't switch TVs every 2, 3 or even 4 years to make 3D quickly adoptable.
- 3D at home isn't as convenient as 3D in the cinema since the glasses are expensive and you need several.
- 3DTVs are HDTVs with 3D, while the upgrade to a HDTV was also good due to switching to a flat, big and prettier TV than the old CRTs.
