Measure the action of magnetic fields?? It sounds like that was a typo for electromagnetic fields, which (considering that the PSeye cannot pick up radio, xray, gamma ray, microwave etc) means light. They are talking about the controller sensors: the Sony Move wands have geomagnetic sensor chips, just like the ones used in many mobile phones and GPS navigators today. It gives an absolute bearing relative to magnetic north and a tilt angle, helping to re-calibrate the gyroscope rotation data.
