Price seems to be less of a game winning issue for the Xbox 360 than some are making it out to be.
The $199 Arcade was the most significant price restructuring back in 2008.
While a $199 Xbox with HDD would be great for consumers, it would still be a $199 Xbox.
Same goes for a $199 Arcade with Natal.
If you shop around, you can actually buy an Xbox for less in many markets and yet sales still stand where they are.
A $99 Arcade seems improbable, but it would sell a lot of units. My guess would be by the time it hits $150, MS may consider just cutting the SKU altogether.
In reference to the PS3, it's been posting significantly higher YoY gains than either the Xbox or the Wii. Obviously, you can't erase a multimillion unit deficit in under a year. It will continue to post YoY sales gains on the road to a mass market friendly $199 price.
But, by the time the market sees a $199 PS3, the Wii may be priced as low as $99, which is the price at which any household even remotely interested in gaming will have one.
