The 360 is selling only marginally better than it's predecessor, I think THAT may be the reason few people believe in the X-box brand right now...

On topic (hijack): Trolls, unite! Hell hath no fury like a fuzzy kitten... scorned...? Nah.

It's selling a lot more than 'marginally better' (particularly in software sales)... and the original Xbox was $199 within 6 months of launch.

Ah, but you must consider the fact that the 360 spent an entire year all alone on the market as opposed to the original box that launched last of all that gen.

@ Dallinor: That picture is a real gem! He looks like a highschool chick in congress! (seriously misplaced and very uncomfortable.)

Doesn't change the facts that the 360 has gained more momentum then the original xbox. Align the launches and you'll see that after Week 56, the 360 had sold 16% more units then the xbox, and as of last week the 360 add gained more then 30% on the Xbox. Those are healthy increases. In total, the 360 outsold the xbox by more then 3.5 million consoles.

The 360's competition was the PS2 - a great console with a giant library and a huge following. Add on top of that all the hype from Sony for the PS3. If anything the PS3 hype was a bigger challenge to the 360 then the actual PS3 console!
