Shenmue Fans did you get Yakuza 3 yet? if not why?

Yakuza 3 is much more open than Yakuza 1 , Yakuza 1 wasn't like Shenmue actually, it was very linear.

Do I have to play 1 and 2 to understand Yakuza 3?

The fights still happen when walkling on the streets?
