They're not doing this to counter the 360. Sony has always had a history of funding small developers to make unique and innovative titles, and they're continuing to do just that. Parrapa the Rapper? Shadow of the Colossus? Sony likes developers that think out of the box. They don't instantly disband a developer because of low sales, like Capcom did with Clover. Instead they spur creativity.
That's one of the things I love about Sony, and it's a big part of why I bought a ps3. I knew more innovative and unique titles would eventually come along, snd only a few months after my purchase LBP proved myself correct.
And coming from a long time Incredible Machine fan, I'm really pumped for this game.
