People are looking down upon Sony for making it because of the comments about the Wii they made in the previous 4 years. Had they shut their traps there would have been little to comment about.

This is a huge part of the problem. If you call something a fad and then some years later makes the "almost" same thing then of course you will hear some complaints. It's hypocricy, and most people dislike it.
