I'd say watch Cronenberg, Lynch plus all the good stuff mentioned for great films.  How far back are you looking, though?  Have you see some of the great black & white films that play well with perception such as The Third Man or classic Hitchcock stuff like Vertigo.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying great movies.  I love 'em myself.
