Yeah the D-pad is harder to use on the Xbox and GC controller, but what's more important? I'd say having the analog stick where the D-pad is on the current Playstation controller would definitely improve. It's likely you only like using the D-pad for sports games and such because it's in the comfortable position...where the analog stick should be. |
Thank you! Someone who finally agrees with me on this. The positioning of the DualShock analog sticks has always annoyed me. This is why when I do use a PS controller, I never use the analog sticks. Not because I want to use the D-pad (which really isn't all that great) but because I get cramps from using the left analog stick in the lower position. Puting the left analog stick where the 360/GC controllers put it emphasized that that was to be the main input device, not the D-pad. This is why I don't care that the 360's D-pad is so lackluster. I have never once used it since owning the system.
It's nice to find someone who finally agrees with me on this issue. I've brought up this up many times when talking about the PS controllers, but I always get attacked for saying it. If they switched the left analog stick to the proper position, then I might consider buying a PS3 (I'm still considering it, but that would definitely help sell me on it even more). I shouldn't have to use the D-pad in this day and age when analog sticks are the way games are designed to be played. I hope a third party releases a variant of the DualShock someday with this "fix" (to me, it's a fix).
