Actually i think gears 1 was a much faster paced game. It was much more about using your shot gun dodging around objects and rushing for the weapons (Torque bow, sniper, boom shot etc). Gears 2 is much more about using your lancer and hiding behind walls |
Late to respond I know (damn work and family!! HAHA), but while I can agree that Gears 2 plays differently, I think the ability to shoot enemies that are in the chainsaw animation, and the removal of the "stun" from elbow melees, lead to a much more responsive/quick experience when up close in the shotgun battles.
However, I loved both of these games, so I'm not dissing Gears. The last time I played the original though in multiplayer, I was one of the noobs that got pwned. It's been too long since I played it and as similar as 1 and 2 are, the multiplayer battles ARE different for sure.
