The Gamecube controller by far for me.
It had a great Joystick that worked very well, interesting shoulder buttons that gave a lot of possibilites, it lay just perfectly in your hands and what was most important for me, the order of the four buttons was better than putting them in a square because you could reach every button easily and you knew wich one was the most important.
I see though that people may complain about the small d-pad or the small 2nd Joystick. I haven't played games that were affected by those, but this may happened to people that prefer other genres than I do.
