I don't know if that will be the case for Gears 3. ME1 was a very unpolished game with a lot of technical issues. I haven't played Gears 2 but from what I've heard it's pretty a solid as far as technical things go.
As far as gameplay, I doubt they'll alter the gameplay of Gears 3 to the same degree that ME2 altered the gameplay of ME1.
