The shortages started happeneing before God of War. And even then, you'd think with God of War and FFXIII coming out within 2 weeks of each other, they would have released a large shipment of consoles.
There's reports that you can't find a single PS3 in major cities like Chicago New York and LA unless you go to a pawn shop. That's pretty bad. And don't think it won't affect the sales of games like God of War and Final Fantasy. Many people waited to buy the PS3 until those games came out. They may just skip it when the 'next big game' comes out if they can't find a PS3 soon.
