Are people forgetting the original premise that the viruses were meant to create soldiers not zombies? It was a matter of time until a game like RE5 were we had zombieless gameplay were to be released in order to progress the storyline. The change was more than natural, if you don't like it because it is no survival horror, fine, but accept that it is a natural progress in the storyline.
I too prefer to shoot zombies and see them eating the shit out of people. I think it would have been great to see that in HD glory were everything would look even more real and shocking than in the past original games. But we will be able to see that in the Resindet Evil 2 remkae, wont we? :)
