Thankfully, it looks like some other JRPGs are learning to do that.  But for some reason, SquareEnix seems determined to not only skip that process, but force accents and edits to the localized versions of their games.  And not just Final Fantasy, but most of their games.  From Dragon Quest to Mana to even the recent port of Chrono Trigger (why they needed to 're-translate' it, I have no idea).

Perhaps someday they'll learn that part of long term sales comes with a quality product.  And part of a quality product is the games localization not being handled like a quickly done Anime dub.
