Yes, the have accelerometers.  They borrowed the Idea so they could show angles.  Otherwise the PSmove wouldn't allow you to tilt your sword for example.

Though, i'm not sure how you'd hold it like mario kart wii... what with the giant ball on one end.

You gotta play Crash Team Racing IMHO thats the best kart racing game ever
