Impression: Splinter Cell: Conviction the good and the ba

I am 60% done of the d/l for this demo now. From what i saw thus far in trailers, it looks good.

But this is my first time ever playing a Splinter Cell game. Is there much of backlog story to this? Or Would i be fine playing this without having played any other games in the series?
