I'm sure many of us don't have the free time we used to have when we were younger, I definitely don't. In fact, my back list of games is huge and going to get bigger as the year continues as I still plan to pick up Star Ocean, WKC and FFXIII; maybe Bayonetta and Heavy Rain too. (when they are cheaper of course) I picked this game over these others because I liked what Tri-Ace did with "Valkyrie Profile" and I loved what Sega showed me in "Valkyria Chronicles".
This may not be your cup of Tee burning_phoneix and if its not, just don't buy it. What I don't understand is why people defend or take to heart what they read from critics. It's just one person's opinion, not your own. Who made game critics the law in whats good and what's not. What could be tedious for someone, could be interesting for another gamer, or vice versa.
