We aren't that short of that. Games like Uncharted, Metal Gear, HEAVY RAIN, Heavenly Sword, Mass Effect and some others state otherwise. It's just a matter of time before games tell stories the way they are told in the movies (even though I think some games are already there, but I guess that's just me). As for HEAVY RAIN, you can't judge it unless you've played it. Trust me. |
I have a pile of other games to get to, and the play mechanics of Dark Rain just don't interest me. I don't play games for great storytelling, because I would look to be disappointed. There ARE exceptions on the whole. Uncharted and Mass Effect are two. But I don't hold them to the same standards I do a movie. Like, if Modern Warfare 2 were a movie, I would of ripped it far more ruthlessly than I had. It felt good, but the story was an utter mess.
A problem I have with people trying to have games as movie experience, is that the production costs are going to shoot WAY through the roof, if you want movie level competence. If they don't do this, you will get more scenes like the one being discussed here.
