i see. (if you don't want a history lesson skip the wall of text below) well Sony LCD was popular at some time, Sony Walkman is no way a failure , if you would known it was the grandaddy of Portable Players , Sony Erricson is no way a failure its still going, SCE is the biggest first party video game company and they're been (along with Nintendo , Activsion , Atari, EA ...ect) a huge publisher of video games, PS2 is the most sold video game console , and it was the reason the industry have more "M" rated games, and that other people would not see video games as "child's toy" as for PS3 and PSP. PS3 had a crappy launch (so did the PS2 and PS1 btw) , but it is doing great now along with Xbox and diffenetally have more Third Party support than the Wii. PSP is the most successful portable gaming device that isn't made by Nintendo. |
Its a failure because people don't buy walkman anymore they buy iPod or something else from Apple way before they even think of a walkman product. People don't talk about IBM when they were the mack daddy of computers for a while like they are still the mack daddy today. I doubt people even call it IBM compatible. But yes I know my history.
Being bigger doesn't make people better. Isn't Nintendo still worth more than Sony inspite the extreme difference in assets? Also Sony Erricson and pretty much every other Sony division has been making losses for a while now. Being the biggest doesn't make Sony the best, they haven't got any 20M selling games have they? They haven't made a new I.P which has sold more than 10M units since the PS1 days.
The PS3 is doing poorly, don't spin it. Compared to the PS2 and the Wii its far behind and its lost a lot of money, more than they will likely ever make back. Financially they are in the toilet, the only spinning is them spinning round and round when you flush.
Oh and the iTouch/iPhone is far more successful in terms of profit, revenue and future prospects. I guess that makes the PSP third.
