@StanGable:

I would have to disagree with what you just said about the 360 being bought for being an American console. Just like Japan has their specific taste in gaming, 360 nailed the type of games that a lot of Americans want, that being FPS, thanks mainly to Halo. Based on the numbers on this website, the original Xbox sold only 16 million units here in America. Worldwide was around 22 million so only 6 million were sold in other countries. However, PS2 sold close to 45 million in the U.S. alone during the same generation so you can't assume that we only buy american made consoles. Again, there was a topic probably less than a month ago where it was explained by either a Japanese person or someone living in Japan that clarified the type of products japanese people buy. Among the most popular were American fast food chains, Ipods, clothing, etc.

So with this in mind seeing how the 360 offers basically the same games that PS3 offers in Europe, why is Europe more biased towards PS3? I'll reiterate, I feel that Europeans got screwed the most yet as of late there seems to be more demand for PS3.

I don't agree with you. I didn't say that Americans buy only American products. They are more likely to buy an American products. Of course there are products that sells good outside their 'native' country but rarely better than in their home country, PS2 did it becouse it was the best console last generation. It's not easy to prove or disprove but this is sth I think we can agree as I found this quite obvious and natural. Also you can't just pick up a country and a product and say it's not true (especially when even aren't saying that ipods/fast-food are more popular in Japan than USA and don't give any numbers). Have you ever bought anything made in Poland? Becouse I did a lot. Did you ever choose a product becouse it was American even if you could take a similar one made overseas? And if you didn't don't you think that there are people in your country (and in every other one) that would do it? Isn't this sth what a patriot would do? And aren't many people patriots?

Other look on the subject: Every console has strongest position it's home region:
Wii: Japan (66% market share)
PS3: Japan (25% market share)
360: America (48% market share)
Every console has weakest position in it's non-home region in which it has to compete with other/others "native" systems to that region:
Wii: America (37% market share, competes with American X360 in that region)
PS3: America (15% market share, competes with American X360 in that region)
360: Japan (9% market share, competes with Japanese PS3 and Wii in that region)
Every console position in "neutral" region Europe(Others) is the same as this console position in whole world:
Wii: it is number 1 in Others as well as in the world with very close market share (40% in Others compared to 43% worldwide).
PS3: It's on last place in Europe with 22% compared to 18.5% worldwide.
X360: It's on second place WW and in Others with market share 39% in both.

About Japan X360 sales: There is no big software advantage for PS3 over 360 in Japan. PS3 important exclusives were only Dynasty Warriors Gundam and Everybody's Golf 5 in Japan. Other good PS3 games (WE2008, DW6) were also avalible on X360 which also had Blue Dragon, Dead or Alive or Ace Combat 6. Distance between X360 and PS3 in Japan in any way cannot be explained by lack of Japanese-tasted software on 360, especially when X360 are 2 years on the market.
