That's my point. People act as if JRPGs were selling machines when that was NEVER the case. Sales have held steady for the genre while other genres have continued to improve on their sales numbers. 500k in sales was great on a PSX because the dev could make money. That is no longer the case on the 360/PS3 and developers are moving to where money can still be made, handhelds.
Besides, with the limited interface options and abiliites of handhelds, JRPGs are a perfect fit. They don' t need twitch systems to work and are generally slow-paced experiences with limited player interaction with the game.
