I enjoyed the first one (though admittedly I'm only about halfway through). Even they can improve the performance of this one (ie get the framerate to a consistent 30fps and enable v-sync) and improve things like the story, I think it could be a solid game all around.
I'm liking the sound of a faster paced battle system, and the changing of seasons sounds cool.
I think reviewers were overly harsh on the first, though. The game deserves mid-7 scores, imo. GameTrailers was right on the mark with its 7.6, but I can't help but feel the 4s from some sites were a rather unjustified.
