A PSP game ALWAYS gets announced a few months after the next game. You have to remember its been released in Japan for some time, so right about now is time for the portable announcment.

Maybe, but they could have waited until, say, May, to announce this. I don't care nor mind that there is a new MH on the PSP (even had it been a Tri port, thus making MH3 non-exclusive, such things don't matter to me). What I want though is for MH3 on the Wii to succeed (and for it to be a system seller), and what such an announcement does is prevent some sales that would have happened had this announcement (and the subsequent hype) not happened before MH3's launch. Would it have hurt them to wait 2 more months? No. Are there some irritated people at Nintendo right now? I am quite certain.

As to why it's not a port (if it isn't), very simple imo - it's their get out of jail card (see Nintendo, we gave you an excusive, we have abided by our side of the contract) despite their now potentially hurting MH3 sales, especially its system selling aspect.

And just to reiterate, no I don't mind the PSP getting its own version, that was inevitable, just the timing.
