Try playing a Dragon Quest game. As I was going to say to the OP as all he posted was a stock list of games people complain about being 'generic'. WHich many of them are still quite good.
Everyone who complains about 'generic' and 'cliche' themes in JRPGs needs to play Dragon Quest, as it both invented and then later broke all these themes itself.
