Once you go down the road on deciding who has the right to reproduce it's scarily close to deciding who has the right to live. I'm anti-eugenics in a fairly big way.

I'm sure the idea is that the right is intrinsic, and something that one has to actively forfeit, like the right to breathe - nobody has the authority to "give" this right, or to take it away arbitrarily.

Ok I agree with that. But since those times the nature of the game has been changed drastically. Now we no longer have the "survival of the fittest" society that we had back when all these rights were really needed. As the playing field changes, so should the game.
