A lot of Compiz is *WAY* beyond mac as well... Although I will admit that the video he linked makes it seem that way.
But don't think that most of the features in Compiz are available in OSX. Compiz is a fully 3-D window manager; OSX has some hacks (the good kind of hacks 
) to make it look somewhat 3-D, but at heart it consists of layers of pre-rendered 2-D screens. In Compiz, each 'pixel' has a complete (x, y, z) dimension, and it uses that for its effects.
