I don't think any of the gods are expecting to get their asses kicked. That's kind of the point of the whole thing. Also, they generally look on any other god getting their butt kicked not as something to be worried about but as something they had coming -- there are many examples of that in the actual mythology.
Also, I believe Khuutra was talking about actual greek mythology. You probably wouldn't have called the Greek gods jackasses to their face back in the day, but they're basically the most hilariously and disturbingly petty characters in all of world literature. I.e. Jackasses.
