For me, FF13 is similar to FF10. So if you really liked 10, you will love 13.
There's just no towns, but I honestly do not mind. It's worth the purchase.
In my opinion, 13 has the best battle system. It's really fun and refreshing once you get the hang of it. Just know that to me and most people I talked to, the first 2 hours are really boring, but then once you get to use Paradigm shift and leveling up, it will be a blast.
FF12 was over rated, and FF13 only got low scores because Western reviewers are too used to being in a open world. This game should have received plenty of low 9's instead of 8.5's.
