The first two times I faced Odin I just charged in without a care in the world and lost. Then I just sat back a moment and put some strategy into it and it came easier. Put on spark rings before the fight, put shell and protect on both characters with Hope while Lightning has Medic on. Then I just swapped a double med class when he was attacking to a com/rav class when he was blocking. It's not hard, but you just can't go in coasting.
I like the difficulty of the game overall, especially if you don't go out of your way to get preemptive strikes. There's been a few tough battles with like 8-10 enemies that taxed me with switching paradigms constantly. It's definitely the most naturally difficult FF since the SNES days. FF XII was more difficult than this, but that had more to do with me constantly finding the areas I shouldn't have been in and tackling enemies there.
