Same controls, moves a bit slower, only with zombies. Essentially it is the equivalent of Dante's Inferno. I liked it too. Just slowing it down a little and giving it it's own environment made what is exactly the same type of game feel a little more unique. Really though the reason I liked it is because I liked Geometry Wars in the first place. |
I played Robotron and Smash TV, and liked those. I also played Geometry Wars, and found it really enjoyable. It went in a different direction. My feeling is that, if companies want to do a game in a genre, they need to do more with it than just reskin a game on another console. If you look at a game and say there really isn't a reason to exist, then I see that as a problem. An industry flooding the market with games like this will end up driving down the value of the videogame market.
And, as I see it now, it looks like EA is going to take a loss with Dante's Inferno financially. The sales have seriously tailed off. Now, just imagine they went in a different direction, with gameplay that took the best of multiple hack and slash titles. Maybe they don't see this. Maybe they actually create a franchise.
Anyhow, that is my take.
