Dragon Quest is different, too, because in Japan at least, they're going to buy platforms for the game, so going multiplat doesn't help as much, because they're not trying to grow the franchise in Japan. In the West, however, DQ isn't big enough to be worth the money it would take to go multiplat
With Final Fantasy, it was the other case, its big enough that it was worth it to port to 360 for the chance of increased sales, and keep exclusive in Japan because the Japanese would go where the game went. But the only way DQ is going to get big in the west is with Nintendo's help. Square Enix clearly doesn't care. |
