Boo hoo. Get over it.

Honestly, they don't conform to the constant parade of 9s or 10s the majority of gaming sites and magazines like to hand out to every major release and gamers go nuts. It is exactly this kind of immature ranting and raving that gives gamers a bad name. Diversity in games journalism is good. I wish all websites and magazines were as professional and uncaring as Edge when handing out review scores. Funnily enough Edge also attempted to do away with handing out scores at one point, and honestly, I'd like to see them do that again.

Film critics have no qualms in criticising the biggest blockbuster release or having a different reaction to every other film critic, so why should videogame critics have to conform to an average score?

And before you suggest there is bias against PS3 exclusives-Edge scored NSMB Wii and Metroid Prime 3 as 7s, despite the meta average being 87 and 90 respectively. They also scored Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii 6 despite the metascores being 80 and 82. That didn't hamper my enjoyment of any of those games. It didn't undermine their integrity as a gaming magazine in my eyes, nor make me end my subscription. I read their reviews and understood the points they made, but didn't agree with them. Instead of having a hissy fit and insulting Edge pointlessly, I simply disagreed with the review and went with my personal preference. Maybe you should start doing the same.

And you complain that they score GOW3 as 8? In case you didn't realise, that isn't a bad score at all. That's a damn good score. Edge just have the brains to realise every big release isn't the greatest thing ever and doesn't deserve to be heralded as the second coming.
