Completely different. There is already a consumer fascination with motion controls of this type as proven by the wii. Regardless of how similar it resembles the concept of the Wii, there is really only one functional way to do it....just because nintendo did it first doesnt mean its time fo rother companies to throw in the towel, its time to build upon it which sony is doing.

With the 32x or sega CD there was no market there, there was no sega cd in retirement homes, no 32x in rehab fascilities, not 60 million of a similar concept WW still selling buttloads. So yeah, i understand youre desire to downplay and come in here to drop all the "peripherals" talk we all know since we are familiar with videogames, but honestly, its tiring and not even remotely comparible in this instance.

The public loves motion controls of this sort, that was never the case with the aforementioned peripherals, this is safe, Natal, no controls, unknown is unsafe since there is nothing like it in shops or peoples homes, this doesnt mean its going to resemble the Sega cd or 32x in sales or popularity, just its more of an unknown, less safe, and this thread is about safe options and logical discussions on why or how it could help the PS3's lifespan.

Just because one company is successful with a product, and there is a large established market for it, does not mean that there success will translate to a similar product made by a different company. Look at the entire product line of Apple, every product they make has countless clones from large companies that are all (roughly) as good as what Apple is producing (and all these products have similar levels of marketing) and yet Apple continues to dominate the market. Why is it that everyone asks for an iPod Touch or an iPhone and so few people ask for a Zune?

I think you can go about it the other way as well....Zen was there before Ipod and Apple came in and utlized on that market and made a huge profit....who knows...SOny might be APple in this case in the future :) And again if they do this well, they will have their usual games for the core gamers who like UC2, KZ2, MGS4 etc PLUS good games for casual gamers...I don't see them 'losing' any current fans..
