Its not acceptable at all. GoW 3 is not a "not bad at all" it's just as deserving as a 10 as bayonetta if not significantly more. The problem here is not the score, you're right, 8/10 is fine. If other games were given 8/10 as well, that would be great!
The problem is consistancy and how some games get knocked points for things and others do not. Halo 3 is every bit exactly the same as Halo 2 as GoW3 is the same as GoW2, yet the scores do not reflect this.
When reviews have significant impacts on how well a game sells we're getting a little out of hand dont you think? Consistancy is required.
It exists for many games, and yes, xbox360 games as well, its just much worse with these ps3 games.
For example,
Edge Magazine quote on Halo 3
"In substance it’s nothing new, merely a magnificent, beautiful monster of an FPS sequel."
I can absolutely assure you they will say that the gameplay hasn't changed much from GoW2->3 and say it is not deserving of a higher score for it.
How is that fair? Just an example.
In any case, GoW3 is a 90-> game. Any review under that should not count. The game is the king of its own realm and is of exceptional quality. You're looking at one of the finest games ever made and edge gives it an 8.

Its called different strokes for different folks. They don't use one reviewer that does all the games. Each game affects different people differently. A 10 game to one person could honestly be 5 or less game for other people. There is no conspiracy theory going on here. I thought this was common knowledge and surely nothing to get panties in a twist about.
