Back in the day Sega fans could have probably argued that the Sega CD and/or Sega 32X would increase the life of the Sega Genesis ...
If the Playstation Move and Natal are successful it should drive third party publishers and consumers towards these consoles which should increase the life of the system; but if they fail it can hurt the relationship between the console manufacturers and third party publishers, while re-enforcing the Wii as the way to play good motion controlled games in the consumers mind.
