50% you say?

You know, I don't see it happening with the 7800gtx Nvidia graphics card PS3 has and the 256 RAM split.

Maybe cell is running at 50% of its capacity but all other components are working overtime.

So in theory maybe...in real life prolly not.

In theory my PC video card is about 20X more powerful than 360/PS3...but I only get 5-6X more performance out of it :D

Let's look beyond the sensationalistc thread title. He more or less said that they are 60% done with the engine, not that they can push 40% more polygons or frames per second.

For example he talks about animation blending, which gives better looking and more natural characters, requires a bit of extra CPU and quite some work on the algorithmic side. But surely the effect of which can't be measured in a percentage in any scale. Same could be probably said of many other engine subsystems.

Yeah I would believe that.

For GOWIII, people actually sat down and did some real mathematical work rather than just played with Unreal 3 engine on a platter so they can tweak and optimize all they want.

The fact that they are running the game with a variable frame rate at 720p indicates that they did a lot of tweaking and got some parts running at 60 fps while others they left at 30... I bet they prolly have a bunch of builds, 1080p @ ~30fps, sub 720p @ 60fps...etc
