Nah, it's because it was developed in England.  :P

I think there might be something to that - or at least a British bias. They gave GTAIV (Scottish developed) a 10. Fable II and Burnout Paradise got a 9.

There are plenty of Edge scores for British developed games below their meta (e.g. Batman AA 8, Need for Speed Shift 8, Alien vs Predator 5, Motorstorm 8, Pacific Rift 7) but given that their average score is 15-20 below the metascore most of those are actually better than you'd expect.
