Lionhead looking to double success of Fable 2.

US, March 11, 2010 - During a panel at this year's Games Developer Conference, Peter Molyneux declared a lofty goal for Fable III. It needs to sell more than 5 million copies. Molyneux did not frame this as a financial goal, but instead a way to measure that far more people were drawn in by Fable III's big changes.

According to Molyneux, Fable III sold 3 million units on the original Xbox. The sequel sold more than 3.5 million copies on Xbox 360. By moving away from a traditional RPG system and adding emphasis to action and adventure elements, Molyneux hopes even more people will give Fable III a chance.

Molyneux says that few people who played Fable II utilized its various features. Despite being a major success, developer Lionhead isn't satisfied. Molyneux and co. want every player to experience and enjoy all that Fable III has to offer.

Fable III ships exclusively on Xbox 360 this fall.
