Or maybe the question should be, why doesn't everyone have a gun in the house?  I'm certainly proud to have a gun in my house.  Maybe people that don't have guns in their house should let it be known.  Have you thought about putting a big sign in your yard that says the people in this house are unarmed, please don't rob/rape/kill us?  An interesting idea.

Please, for the love of God don't make this into yet another guns are good/guns are bad discussion. I know from experience that such discussions get nowhere in the end, especially when Americans are involved. You guys just look at things differently, and that's okay, you have you own laws, culture and moral standards over there, and I know a lot of people there own guns. Fine.

I don't, I'm sorry, and I don't know anyone who does or ever has, and I'm very happy with that, too. By your logic we should be overrun by murdering rapists because we don't own guns here, fact is we don't, and I can say I live in a much, much, MUCH safer country than the USA will ever be. And guess what, we're allowed to legally do drugs here, too, you can even buy those in legitimate shops, and we aren't even being overrun by violent drug addicts, either. Have YOU thought about what your country would be like had firearms never been legal for citizens? That a society could be civilized enough to live together without the need to actually kill each other? An interesting idea.

I could go on about how we never ever have any highschool shoot-outs, and extremely low crime/murder rates compared to the USA and whatnot, but I'll spare you that. Like I said, I'm not making this into another discussion, so I'll leave it at this.
