Just saw this tweet from Ozymandias:

Ozymandias

Extend games with HTTP: consume 3PP web services (weather, shopping), connect to own WS. We will have policies, need to talk with us. #WP7

WP7 XNA apps will definitely be getting HTTP functionality, but 360 ones might not be.

This would be great news as the Indie channel would no longer contain only games, a wide variety of applications could be developed for it.  The policies statement is not good news though.
