I don't see how SMG2 will help sell hardware when most people who plan on buying the game already own a Wii so they could play the original.

The difference between GoW3 and SMG2 is that a lot of people were holding off on buying a PS3 specifically for this game.

While SMG2 and any other sequel Nintendo releases will have huge software numbers I don't believe it will sell as many consoles as people seem to think.

It won't be a big system seller, a 'killer app', but sequels can give a boost to momentum, and many HD sequels have shown weekly bumps. The reason it can give momentum is because it can reignite enthusiasm in existing owners, and enthusiasm spreading from current owners to new owners is a major part of 'momentum'. On the opposite side of the coin the fact that so many people have been disappointed with Wii, in 2009 especially, is a major factor in why it lost momentum (there was neither software to excite existing owners nor software to entice new owners from the latter half of 2008 to the middle of 2009).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
