That's really too bad. I haven't played that many Dragon Quest-games, only played DQ8 to completion. I started DQ4, but it didn't interest me all that much, I'll probably try and get further in it and maybe finish it if I like it at some point. If I like DQ4, I'm planning on trying 5 and 6 too.

5 is AMAZING

One of the best stories ina  JRPG....not because its deep or anything....but because its very enjoyable & full of charm.

Actually, its still pretty good just by itself.  If you discect the story by itself, its pretty broad.  There's about 12 major points to it.  But more than that, the best part of it is how the gameplay was built around it.  The developers stated the reason they developed the monster collection system  and the ability for the hero to get married was because of the fact certain characters left your party over the course of the game.  Now THAT'S what I call focusing on the gameplay.

Who did you marry in your playthrough?

I agree....the monster collection system was extremely good....similar to pokemon but different too

Well, since I've played both the SNES and DS versions, I married both 'original' girls (Bianca and Nera).  I'm gonna replay it again sometime and Marry Deborah though, heh.

And yeah, the monster collection system actually predates Pokemon.  Some people think it inspired Pokemon (as did many other things it seems).  Though its not the first game with a monster hunting system (that title probably goes to Shin Megami Tensei on the NES).
