EA has been selling BF games direct for a long time, most of the expansions were bought that way. Original game was mostly physical copies, but the SF xpack was at least half digital, forget where I saw that was a long time ago. Was just more convenient for most people to use EA DLer for xpansion, those who had CC anyhow.
Pretty sure the 2.5m figure is just the recorded amount for first 2-4 weeks, I dont know what it ended up at, but it should be reasonably higher. So its 2.5 + whatever it sold in 5 years. 2.5 might be sell-in not sell-thru, which would put actualy sell thru probably closer to 2.2-2.3m
Did it have a retail re-release as a bundle? I dont recall, that would have driven sales some.
