So, needless to say, I think the concept of a gay parade is good. My problem with them is how they so frequently play into the stereotypes which not all of us fit. Reminding people that we still exist: good. Getting up in their faces and being aggressive about it, which is how most parades seem to do this: bad. I'm more a fan of subdued reminders- we're still here, but we're also normal people, just like you. These flashy, over-the-top parades really do make us seem like a second kind of race at times... |
Pretty much sums it up for me, I think they do no favours for homophobia, only fuel it further. They're normally full of camp men which I despise as well ..

I got a "Dumbest thing I've ever heard." a few days ago, so don't beat yourself up over it.
My guess is this is just a topic he is very sensitive about, so anyone says anything about it that could be taken wrong, he assumes that's what you meant.

I flamebait by pointing out apparent double standards and hypocricy, and asking the subject to clarify/explain himself? And though I'm not asking you to be a saint like CGI or zexen, I do expect you to at least have very basic manners.
