I agree. I think it's definitely possible on the Wii. The backgounds have a very low poly count, and even the main characters aren't very detailed. They have nothing on the Tekken 6, VF5, or even DoA 4 character models.

Of course, this game isn't very far along in development. Uncharted didn't look so hot when they first showed gameplay either, but it ended up exceeding the target render.


If my instincts about these screenshots are correct, they're using some complicated shaders to get the look just right, like somebody actually painted these images.  The complexity as well as the art style lend themselves toward lower poly scenes aside from the main characters, which should be the focal point anyway (you don't want a lot of distracting visual noise on the screen).  It should look absolutely breathtaking in motion.
