This is exactly what Valve said, and I agree with them - and you.  Legally buying and using something, should almost never be more difficult than taking an illegal route (firearms being the obvious exception that comes to mind).

If companies like Ubi are going to make the whole consumer experience actually painful (and they are) then I won't buy from them.  The easy next step, particularly if I've feeling vindictive, is to take the easy route and pirate from them.

Ubisoft should make it a joy to buy and play Assassin's Creed 2 on PC, for example, not a chore.
