Regardless the catholic Church didn't think the earth was flat. 

You know... it actually says in the bible where the Earth was round, but your going with an alternate definition of something that also just means earth.

Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.”

Isaiah 45:18: “...who made the earth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast...”

Isaih 11:12: "And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth."

Job 38:12: "Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place that it might take the earth by the edge and shake the wicked out of it?"
